For this speech, you must have your text selection on a sheet of paper or in a notebook. You may not use the original source (meaning, you're not bringing in your English textbook). You should look for something that deals with JUSTICE and MORALITY.
Hook/Creative Intro. ( This can be something from the poem OR it can be your words. You can say it together, or back and forth.)
Preview Statement (including a listing of the speech’s main points, THESE ARE YOUR WORDS ONLY, no notebooks allowed. You should both speak.)
RECITE THE POEM/PROSE (You are doing this in a creative way. What is most entertaining. You can read this part, but it should be well rehearsed.)
Creative Conclusion (which usually ties back directly to the introduction,THESE ARE YOUR WORDS ONLY, no notebooks allowed. You should both speak.)
Declamation: Dramatic Interpretation or Humorous Interpretation: 7-10 minutes
Select a dramatic or interpretation speech Choose and cut a piece, and prepare a memorized performance of that piece as part of an ongoing assignment for several weeks. You will then interpret the piece as your speech portion of the performance.
By the end of one to two weeks, the entire piece should be performance-ready! There will be a memory check— you will perform two-minute excerpts from your pieces from memory at the halfway point.
Outline of the interpretation speech: You and your partner choose a play, movie, song, poem, novel or short story I will approve it. Whatever pieces you pick...for this speech, you must have excerpts memorized. The theme is your choice. You get to pick, dramatic or humorous.

How will you and your partner break this up? Some have chosen to break up the reciting with their own commentary. For our class, this is ok, but this is not how the NFL competitions do it. :)
