The Great Gatsby: Picturing the Past Seven Chapters As a class, we are going to create a visual interpretation of Chapters 1-7 of The Great Gatsby using Phillip Neimeyer’s “Picturing the Past Ten Years” infographic as a model. How it works: Your group will be assigned ONE chapter of The Great Gatsby. You should SYMBOLICALLY represent each element. This is not a full-blown rendering of a specific scene, but rather a symbol to represent it. You should include a QUOTE (WITH PAGE NUMBER) from the text to explain this symbol.
THE CATEGORIES SETTING Where does the main action of this chapter take place? MOOD What is the prevailing mood of the chapter? CHARACTER ACTION What is the most significant action a character takes in this chapter? CHARACTER CONNECTION We uncover significant character connections in each chapter. Which one is most significant in this chapter? BEST LINE What is it? Who delivers it? SYMBOL Fitzgerald uses heavy symbolism in this book. What is the most prominent symbol in this chapter? PLOT TWIST Where does it get good?
You should divide the categories up among your group members. We will put our chart together and review Chapters 1-7.
